Accessibility Statement

Last updated: May 2026

Eagle Flight Simulator Club is committed to making the experience of flight accessible to everyone — that's the founding idea of the club, and it shapes how we think about both our website and our physical facility in Ronkonkoma, NY. This page explains what we've done, what we're working on, and how to reach us if you run into a barrier.

Our commitment

We aim to make our website usable for the widest possible audience, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnification, voice control, or other assistive technologies. We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as our reference standard and work toward conforming to it across the site.

What we've done on the website

  • Semantic structure. Pages use proper headings, landmarks, and lists so the document outline is clear to screen readers and search engines alike.
  • Alt text on meaningful images. Photographs and diagrams that convey information include descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are marked so assistive technology can skip them.
  • Keyboard navigation. Menus, buttons, and links can be reached and operated using only a keyboard.
  • Color and contrast. Body text is sized and colored to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios against its background.
  • Resizable text. The site is built to remain readable when text is enlarged up to 200% in your browser.
  • Responsive layout. Pages adapt to phones, tablets, and desktop screens so you can use whichever device works best for you.
  • Plain language. We aim to write clearly and avoid unnecessary jargon. Aviation terminology is defined or linked when we use it.

Known limitations

We want to be honest about the gaps. Some areas of the site are not yet fully accessible:

  • Embedded video. Background and promotional videos on the site do not currently include captions or audio descriptions. The videos are decorative and do not contain spoken information critical to using the site, but we plan to add captions to any future videos that include narration.
  • Third-party booking widget. Our online scheduler is provided by a third-party platform. We have limited ability to modify its accessibility features. If you encounter a barrier when booking online, you can always book by phone at (631) 512-0899 during operating hours and we will handle it personally.
  • PDFs and embedded documents. Any PDFs we share may not be fully tagged for screen readers. If you need an alternative format, contact us and we'll provide one.
  • Ongoing improvements. The site is actively maintained, and we treat accessibility as a continuous process rather than a one-time audit.

Accessibility at our facility

Our space at 3279 Veterans Memorial Hwy, Suite D-1, Ronkonkoma, NY is a ground-floor suite with step-free entry from the parking lot. The simulator itself is a fixed cockpit replica with a step-up entry — please call ahead if you have specific mobility, sensory, or other needs and we'll talk through what's possible. We've welcomed flyers with a wide range of physical abilities, and we're glad to discuss accommodations such as:

  • Adjusted session length or pacing
  • Quieter visit times outside peak hours
  • A companion or aide accompanying you in the cockpit area at no extra charge
  • A walkthrough of the simulator and surroundings before your session begins

The best way to plan an accessible visit is to call us in advance — we'd much rather have the conversation up front than have you arrive to a surprise.

Tell us when something doesn't work

If you find a page, feature, or document on this site that is difficult or impossible to use with your assistive technology — or if you'd like the same information in a different format — please let us know. We take this kind of feedback seriously and will respond as quickly as we can.

Online: Send us a message

When you contact us, it helps to include:

  • The page or URL where you ran into the problem
  • A short description of what happened
  • The browser, operating system, and any assistive technology you were using
  • How you'd like us to respond (phone, email, or another format)

We aim to acknowledge accessibility-related messages within two business days and to provide a substantive response or workaround within ten business days.

Standards we follow

This statement reflects our current good-faith efforts. We have not undergone a formal third-party WCAG audit at this time, and we describe our conformance as partial rather than full until such an audit is completed.

Updates to this statement

As we make accessibility improvements to the site and the facility, we'll update this page and revise the date at the top. If a change materially affects how you use the site, we'll note it here.
